What this BaZi calculator resolves

BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, maps a Gregorian birth record into four stem-and-branch pairs. The Year and Month Pillars change at solar boundaries, while the Day and Hour Pillars depend on the selected clock and day-boundary convention.

MingWeave uses a versioned historical time-zone dataset, exact solar term instants, and a named Method Profile. That makes the result reproducible and lets you inspect differences without treating any single convention as scientific proof.

Why does birthplace matter?

The place resolves the historical local UTC offset and daylight-saving rules. Longitude is also required when you choose True Solar Time.

What if I do not know my birth time?

MingWeave returns a Three-Pillar chart, omits the Hour Pillar, and identifies any date-level fields or Luck Pillar timing that remain uncertain.

Why can another calculator disagree?

Common causes include historical time zones, True Solar Time, the 23:00 versus midnight day boundary, and the exact Li Chun or monthly Jie instant. The Method Profile and trace show MingWeave’s choices.
