A branch maps to a small ordered stem set
Every Earthly Branch in MingWeave maps to one, two, or three Hidden Stems. The mapping is a conventional lookup table, not a value inferred by AI. The first entry is commonly described as the principal or main qi; additional entries represent secondary components according to the approved rules.
The mapping means a branch contributes more structure than its visible element label alone. A chart with no visible Fire stem, for example, may still contain a Fire Hidden Stem. That observation is a chart fact, while any claim about what it means for a person belongs to a separate interpretive layer.
Order is preserved without invented percentages
MingWeave labels Hidden Stems as main, secondary, or residual according to their table order. P0 deliberately does not convert those roles into 60/30/10 or any other percentages. In the Five Element summary, every listed Hidden Stem contributes one unweighted occurrence.
Other schools may use numeric weighting schemes or different membership tables. That is why the Methodology page publishes the P0 convention and the result includes the engine version. A disagreement should be traced to the rule table and counting model before it is framed as an interpretive dispute.
Ten Gods labels remain Day-Master-relative
For each Hidden Stem, the engine compares its element and polarity with the Day Master. The same Ten Gods derivation used for visible stems then supplies a label. Changing the Day Master changes those labels even when the branch and Hidden Stem membership stay the same.
A useful display therefore keeps three pieces together: the Hidden Stem character and name, its ordered role, and its Ten Gods relationship. Showing only a translated label loses the source character; adding unsupported percentages would imply precision the P0 rules do not claim. MingWeave keeps the auditable layers adjacent.
Read the matrix from evidence to context
Begin by checking the branch in each pillar, then expand its Hidden Stem row. Observe repeated stems and elements across visible and hidden positions. Next relate each stem to the Day Master. Only after those direct outputs should you consider season, combinations, clashes, or broader interpretive frameworks.
If a calculator shows a different Hidden Stem set, compare its published table and terminology. If it offers no table, the difference is not auditable. MingWeave’s calculation trace identifies the engine and rule versions so a future rules change cannot masquerade as the same computation.
