The Month Pillar is the sequence anchor
A Luck Pillar sequence starts from the natal Month Pillar and moves through the sixty stem-branch combinations. The first decadal pillar is the next combination in a forward sequence or the previous combination in a reverse sequence. Subsequent pillars continue in the same direction, each covering the method’s next ten-year span.
Because the Month Pillar changes at monthly Jie solar terms, a birth near a Jie boundary can also change the Luck Pillar anchor. Verify the Month Pillar and its solar-term trace before reading the sequence. A Gregorian month number is not an adequate substitute.
Direction follows an explicit rule table
MingWeave’s P0 rule combines the polarity of the natal Year Stem with the selected category used by the method. One pairing proceeds forward and the complementary pairing proceeds reverse, as documented on the Methodology page. The input is labeled as a calculation category rather than a claim about identity.
The calculator also offers ‘Compare both’. In that mode it returns both forward and reverse sequences and explains why a single direction was not assumed. This is preferable when the method category is unknown, not applicable, or intentionally withheld. Analytics records only the closed event state and never this sensitive input value.
Sequence and starting age are separate calculations
Direction determines which stem-branch pairs appear and in what order. Starting age determines when the first pair begins. MingWeave calculates starting age from the time distance to the relevant solar term under the chosen convention. Changing that conversion can shift ages without changing the pillar sequence itself.
A clear result therefore displays the direction, sequence, start age, and solar-term interval separately. If birth time is unknown, the engine reports the limits on start-age precision rather than inventing an instant. The chart should distinguish a complete sequence from precise transition timing.
Read Luck Pillars as structured periods, not promises
Each decadal pillar adds another stem and branch that can be compared with the natal chart’s Day Master, elements, and interactions. That supplies structured material for cultural reflection. It does not prove that a named event will occur within the span, and the age labels should not be treated as precise scientific forecasts.
Before comparing two products, align the Month Pillar, direction rule, solar-term target, time-distance conversion, age convention, and rounding. MingWeave prints those method details and its version identifiers so a sequence can be reproduced rather than trusted on appearance alone.
